Handle: The total amount of money that is gambled (played) on games or contests over a period of time. For lotteries and horse races, it would include all the bets made; for machines, it would include all the coins placed into the machine, regardless of the number that came out as a result of player wins. For a casino table game, the handle is difficult to determine, as it consists of all the bets made in every game, whether by chip or by cash play.
